Locally connected in Pittsburgh

A local connector business, run plainly

Steele Bros Dumpster Rental Pittsburgh was founded by a local Pittsburgh family to bring straightforward, dependable dumpster service to Pittsburgh homeowners and contractors. Too many companies made you chase a quote, guess at a size, and hope a truck showed up when it said it would. We set out to build the outfit we wished existed — a team that actually answers the phone and connects you with a hauler who follows through.

That is still the whole mission: to make waste removal easier, cleaner and more responsible for everyone in Pittsburgh. Upfront pricing, eco-conscious disposal, and staying involved in the community we live and work in — that is not marketing language here, it is how the company actually runs day to day. What started small has grown through word of mouth and repeat customers — a contractor telling another contractor, a homeowner telling a neighbor — as we built out a network of local, licensed and insured haulers we trust to do the job right.

What we look like today

We are not a truck owner ourselves — we do not own or operate dumpsters, trucks or waste disposal facilities. What we do is simplify the search: our office on 200 Business Center Dr coordinates with a network of independent, licensed and insured local haulers who keep 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 yard containers on the ground across Pittsburgh and the boroughs spreading out across Allegheny County — from West End and Sheraden to Crafton and Bridgeville.

Our team, and the haulers we work with, know this area's housing stock — the older rowhouses and narrow city streets around Elliott and West End, the tight lots and steep driveways in independent boroughs like McKees Rocks and Heidelberg, and the newer construction filling in around Robinson Township and Coraopolis. They know a container set a few inches too far forward can mean a hauler cannot get the truck back out of a narrow city street, and they know exactly what a fast winter freeze-thaw cycle can do to a soft yard between the time you call and the time a truck arrives.

Our promise, in one line: the flat rate we quote on the phone is the rate on the invoice, and if we ever get that wrong, we make it right — not you.

Why we care about where it ends up

Connecting customers with haulers for a living gives you a fairly direct relationship with the consequences. We live here. So we vet every hauler in our network against Pennsylvania's waste rules rather than treating them as paperwork, we ask them to sort out clean wood, metal, cardboard, concrete and yard waste where the volume justifies it, and we would rather spend five minutes on the phone telling you where an old appliance should go than quietly let it become someone else's problem.

If you want the detail on that, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) publishes guidance on solid waste and construction & demolition disposal statewide. Our own plain-English version is in this guide.

Pittsburgh weather and terrain, handled

Pittsburgh is a hilly city built where the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers meet — the "City of Bridges," and long known as the "Steel City" for its industrial roots. That terrain means steep, narrow driveways and streets are simply part of daily life here, not an exception. Winters bring real snow and ice, from lake-effect bands blowing in off Lake Erie to regular nor'easters, plus the freeze-thaw cycles that crack pavement and soften ground through the colder months. Spring can bring flooding risk along the lower stretches near the rivers as snowmelt and rain push the "Three Rivers" up. When a storm rolls through and a neighborhood is dealing with downed limbs or storm debris, that is exactly when we work hardest to keep haulers moving — storm cleanup calls get pushed toward the front of the queue, and we would rather be busy after a storm than have a neighbor stuck with a yard full of debris and no way to clear it.

  • Boards laid under the rails before the container touches your surface.

  • A quick, honest rundown from your hauler of what can and cannot go in.
  • The site left clean on pickup — your hauler sweeps up what falls.

Reviews

What customers tell us

  • I nearly ordered the wrong size for a kitchen gut. The person on the phone at Steele Bros talked me into a 15 yard instead of the 30 I asked for and was dead right about our narrow street. Saved me money by selling me less — not many companies do that.

    Brett H.Crafton — Home Renovation

  • We had an old garage full of decades of junk on a steep back lot. The hauler got the truck in and out with no ruts, no drama, even with the ground still soft from a late snowmelt. They came back for a second load the same week when half the county was still booked out.

    Sam O.Coraopolis — Property Clearout

  • I manage a few rental properties around Carnegie and turnover season gets chaotic fast. Steele Bros has been our standing call every summer — the hauler they line up shows up when they say, invoices are clean and flat rate so I can budget it. Zero surprise weight charges in three seasons.

Answers

About Steele Bros Dumpster Rental — common questions

Is Steele Bros Dumpster Rental actually based in Pittsburgh?

Yes. Our office is at 200 Business Center Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, and that is where our dispatch team coordinates with our network of local haulers every day. We are not an out-of-state call center reselling your job to whichever bidder is cheapest — when you call (412) 850-4148 you reach a local Pittsburgh team who knows the haulers we work with.

How long have you been in business?

We do not lead with a founding year because what matters more is how we operate today: a local Pittsburgh family business, based in Pittsburgh, with a small team that answers the phone and connects you with a hauler who shows up when they say they will. What started small has grown through word of mouth and repeat customers — ask us about our track record with a specific job type and we will give you a straight answer.

Are the haulers you work with licensed and insured?

Every hauler in our network is vetted for proper Pennsylvania licensing and general liability and auto coverage before we ever refer them a job. We are happy to confirm a certificate of insurance for general contractors, property managers and municipalities before a job starts — just ask when you call. It is a routine request for us, and we can usually turn it around the same day so it does not hold up your project schedule.

Do you work with contractors on ongoing jobs?

Constantly. Remodelers, restoration companies and property managers make up a large share of our week. We can set up standing swap-out arrangements with a consistent hauler, priority call windows during peak season, and consolidated monthly invoicing. Call and ask for the commercial side, and we will build a referral arrangement that fits how your crews actually schedule work.

What happens to the material after pickup?

Your matched hauler weighs it, then sorts where the load makes sorting worthwhile — clean wood, scrap metal, cardboard, clean concrete and yard waste get diverted rather than landfilled. Everything else goes to a permitted disposal facility. Materials restricted from ordinary Pennsylvania landfill disposal are separated out and routed to the right facility, per Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) rules.
